Having received a brand new Haas VF-2 for a customer. So we received, unloaded, stored, reloaded, delivered and set in place this baby in Miami. VF2 stands for vinylidene fluoride monomer and it is a Vertical Machining Centre. It’s actually a milling machine which by rotating a cutting tool to remove material from a work piece. This is done by drilling, boring, and/or cutting.
While most VF-2 machines weight in the neighborhood of 3,000 pounds, some models can tip the scales at over twice that weight. This machine is a perfect example as it is just shy of 8,000 pounds. According to the Haas website the “Haas VF2 is the second Haas Mill made by Haas Automation. The Haas VF2 is known to be a 40 Taper 3 axis CNC mill that includes high-power and direct-drive spindles. The Haas VF2 is the most popular model of the Haas VF series.”
